John Thomas, 69, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025, in Milbank, SD. He was born on March 19, 1956, to John and Marjorie Thomas. John grew up in Columbus and joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17, reflecting his strength, discipline, and sense of duty. He spent much of his life working with his hands, taking pride in roofing, decking, and home improvement work. John will be remembered for his quick wit and sharp sense of humor, always ready with a well-timed comment or laugh. He was dependable, hardworking, and loyal, with a fiery soul and a deep love for his family, who remained at the center of his life.

John is survived by his son, John J. Thomas (Linda); daughter, Kimberly; grandsons: Mason and Cody; sisters: Roxie Bohn and Peggy Hillard; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. Thomas and Marjorie Fraley; his son, Greg; sisters: Connie R. Thomas and Cindy Hunter; brothers: Brian, Wayne & Tom Thomas; and nephew, Philip "KoJack" Donaldson.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 23 from 9 am until the time of funeral service at 11 am at O. R. Woodyard Co. 1346 S. High St. Columbus, Ohio. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery.
