Joseph Jackson Cannon, known to many as Jack, age 89, passed away peacefully October 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born November 11, 1935, in Columbus, Jack was a proud graduate of West High School and Franklin University. He served honorably in the United States Navy and carried that sense of duty and camaraderie throughout his life.

Jack was a proud Irishman who often marched alongside his brother in the St. Patrick's Day parade. As a business owner for more than 40 years, his small business legacy was well known among Central Ohio. Never knowing a stranger, Jack's life was rich with a wide circle of cherished friends. He was a member of several civic and social organizations, including the Shamrock Club, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 999, Moose Lodge, Central Ohio Home Plate Club and served as a Red Coat for The Ohio State University.

A devout Catholic, Jack was a long-time member of St. Timothy Catholic Church. He also found joy in attending Mass at surrounding parishes, including Immaculate Conception where he proposed to his beloved wife, St. Agatha, Holy Cross and Sacred Heart.

Born a twin, Jack and Cherry came into the world together and never stopped walking through it side by side. Through every season of life, they remained each other's safe harbor and best friend.

Jack will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering generosity and deep devotion to his family. He gave without fanfare and always without expectation. His presence brought warmth, humor and a sense of belonging to every room he entered. Jack's passing leaves the world a little less vibrant. He will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege to know and love him.

Preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife, Natalie, of nearly 62 years, parents Mary Agnes (Holtz) and William Merrill Cannon of Columbus, sister and brother-in-law Juanita and Harold Beckett of Lima, Jean and Edward Fisher, brother Will and sister-in-law Shirley Cannon, brother-in-laws Tom Lorenz and Russell Thompson all of Columbus. Survived by daughters, Lisa Cannon Hays of Columbus, Cheryl Cannon (Robert) Susi of Powell, adored by granddaughters Olivia, Isabella and Victoria Susi; twin sister Sarah (Cherry) Thompson, sister Ann Lorenz and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 noon October 30, 2025, at St. Joseph Cemetery Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, 6440 South High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio with interment immediately following. Reverend Father Timothy Hayes, Celebrant. The family would like to thank the exceptional and caring staff at the Kobacker House.
