Obituary

Joseph Paul Miller passed away May 24, 2026 at age 93. He was born January 24, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio to Clara Klein and Alonzo Miller and was the youngest of eight children. After his high school sweetheart, Margo Thompson, poked him several times with a sharp pencil, he finally got the 'point' and asked her out. They graduated from South High in Columbus and later married in 1953. Known as 'Jumpin Joe' in high school, he ran the high hurdles in track and played football.

Joe was a beer man and worked for Keiser Machine Shop as an apprentice machinist. He later moved the family to Powell, Ohio to take a job at Anheuser Busch where he worked as a maintenance superintendent for many years. He loved beer steins and had a huge collection that would make any collector proud. There wasn't anything that he couldn't fix. Give him a hammer, nails, some duct tape and he would work his magic. He could put up drywall, install a roof, replace windows, repair swimming pools and patch water lines all the time smiling and sometimes cursing if something didn't want to be fixed. Margo supervised.

Joe was an Army veteran and served in Germany from 1953 to 1957 during the Korean War. He loved his family. After retirement, Joe and Margo treated everyone to a family vacation at Myrtle Beach to enjoy a week playing in the sand and surf. He loved to build sandcastles so the grand kids could tear them down and then start all over again. This was an annual pilgrimage for about a decade.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, son Joey Miller, and wife of 68 years Margo Miller. Joe is survived by his daughter Marci Akers (Rick), granddaughter Jaclyn Wagner (Stuart) and two grandsons Grant Miller (Kelley) and Jesse Akers. He has three great grandchildren Lilly, Mark and Emma Miller, two Granddogs and a Grandkitty. We all miss you Joe.
