Josephine Cuomo Norman, age 85, was born February 19, 1937 in Follansbee, West Virginia and passed away in her home on October 14, 2022 in Hilliard, Ohio. Preceded in death by her father Frank Cuomo, mother Anna (Tornifolio) Cuomo, sister Dr. Ruth Ann (Cuomo) Miller, brother Frank Cuomo Jr., and son Berkley "Berk" Norman III. Survived by her sister Shirley Jean Cuomo, brother Pastor Joseph Cuomo, son Brad Norman, grandson Berkley Norman IV and his wife Jessica (Michel), granddaughter Melissa (Norman) Reid, and great grandson Wesley Rubincan.
A graduate of Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio, Josephine made her mark professionally in over twenty years of employment with Columbia Gas. Working her way up from administrative assistant to the position of advertising executive, her most well-remembered contribution to the company was the award-winning slogan "Warm Heat is Gas Heat."
Through the 1980s and 1990s she was active in the Columbus social scene, counting among her friends the world-famous Jack Hanna of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, and Kahiki Supper Club owner Mitch Boich. Still, she was most at peace when spending an evening at home with the comfort of her books, or reading her bible. Her association with the Radiant Life Church for over ten years was a source of many fond memories and cherished friendships.
Most of all, Josephine's heart was filled to the brim by her family. Her sons, Berk and Brad, were the apples of her eye, and she did everything possible to provide them with all of the love and care that they would ever need. That dedication carried on to her grandchildren, Berkley and Melissa, who were precious to her from the moment that they were born. Though she had moved away from her birthplace in West Virginia, she enjoyed long (and at times impassioned) conversations with her siblings through her later years, and valued their counsel on a great many things.
A memorial will be held for Josephine on Friday, October 28th at 6:00pm at Radiant Life Church, 7100 Post Road, Dublin, OH 43016. Everyone whose life was touched by her kindness and friendship is invited to attend.
