Judy I. Shanks, 79, passed away on October 18, 2020. She was born on December 3, 1940 to the late Kenneth Inbidore and Alice McGown in Wood County, West Virginia. Judy went on to marry the love of her life, Kenneth Shanks; together they had four children. She was an avid gardener and also enjoyed reality tv shows like Surviving Alaska and Storage Wars. In her neighborhood, Judy was called Mom or Grandma by everyone: she was a motherly figure to everyone who crossed her path. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents; as well as siblings: Richard Brookover, Danny Brookover, Johnny Brookover, Bill Brookover, and Laura Poore. She is survived by her children: David (Beverly) Shanks, Beth (Richard) Shanks, Kenda Buchanan, and Jeff (Amelia) Shanks; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Kathy McVey (Bill McVey); sister-in-laws, Juanita Speakman and Linda Bigley; longtime best friend, Lauren Williams; cousin, Deb Fought; as well as many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Special thank you to Cherie Harris, who gave special care to Judy during her last moments. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 6-8 PM at O.R.
