Julia Belle Harmon of Grove City, Ohio was 87 years old when she left this world for her heavenly home on December 28, 2024. Julia was a godly woman who lived in purity and reverence. She loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.

Julia was born on August 21, 1937, in Louisa, Kentucky, into the loving family of the late Gus and Nannie Hickman. She moved with her family to Columbus, Ohio as a young girl. In her adult years, Julia worked as a secretary prior to starting a family. Once she became a wife and mother, she immersed herself into being a full-time homemaker, where she created a warm, nurturing space for her family. She modeled Christ-like behaviors to her children and often served as the primary caretaker for other children, welcoming them with open arms into her home. The house was always cozy, the food was always delicious, and you felt a spirit of peace in her presence. She returned to the workforce once her children were raised and retired after working many years for the State of Ohio.

Julia is survived by her loving husband and constant companion of 66 years, Elias. You rarely saw one without the other by their side. She is also survived by her three adoring daughters and their husbands - Debbie (Clem) Gentene of Mason, Ohio, Rhonda (Ely) Conrad of Grove City, Ohio, and Jan (Dave) McGrew of Plain City, Ohio. She loved her seven grandchildren – Shannon (Jeff) Corona, Tony (Katie) Gentene, Lauren Julia Gentene, Nathan (Brittney) Conrad, Ashley (Matt) Paley, Courtney (Austin) Miller, and Nikki (Ivan) Mast. Her nine great-grandchildren brought her tremendous joy in her later years – Anthony Gentene, Rowan Miller, Roman Gentene, Hunter Julia Mast, Jasey Conrad, Lyla Belle Miller, Everett Mast, Saylor Conrad, and Clara Miller. Preceding her in death were her sister, Anna Cowan, and her brother, Augustus Hickman. Julia is also survived by many other family members, treasured nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Julia will be remembered for her sweet, peaceful demeanor with an inner strength rooted in her faith in Jesus. She was a devoted wife, and a patient and loving mother and grandmother. She was a humble woman of extraordinary kindness who was gracious and hospitable to all. She was a powerful prayer warrior, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying have had on her family, her friends, and the world at large.

The family expresses gratitude to Julia's caregivers, Juanlynda Scarbrough and Gina McElroy, for their compassion and loving hearts.

Services will be held at O.R. Woodyard, 1346 S. High St., Columbus, Ohio. Family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 5-8pm and a Celebration of Life, officiated by Rev. Mark Hatfield, will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 10am. Burial will follow at Obetz Cemetery. Following the burial, a luncheon will be served at the Pentecostal Church of God Fellowship Hall, 1101 Obetz Rd., Columbus, Ohio.
