Julia Smith

Loving Aunt, Sister, and Daughter

Julia had a gift for making others feel special, whether it was spoiling her loved ones, sharing a long phone call with friends, or offering a helping hand to anyone in need. She had a love for all things "across the pond," from cherished family and friends to the music of the Beatles and her favorite British foods. She filled her days with music, laughter, and the joy of caring for all her fur babies and the outdoor critters that found their way to her: cats, squirrels, raccoons, and more. Her compassion extended to animal welfare causes, where she poured her heart into making a difference.  She was a proud graduate of Hamilton Township High School and Ohio University, and a dedicated employee of both the Columbus Dispatch and the Ohio Department of Health.  Julia was preceded in death by her father, Bill Smith; mother, Pat Firth-Smith; and brother, Gary Smith.  She is survived by her sister-in-law, Tina Smith; the Firth and Smith families; nephews Casey (Izzy) and Mike (Sarah); and grand-nieces and nephews Kelsea, Kate, Kiley, Karlisle, and Zayn. Family and friends are invited to gather at O. R. Woodyard Funeral Home, where visitation will be held Monday from 6–8 PM and Tuesday at 11 AM, followed by the funeral service at 12 PM. Interment will take place at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
