Karyn Ella Johnson

Karyn Ella Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and volunteer, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at OSU University Hospital.

Born in Columbus, Ohio to Ella Mae Cowan and Bill Clement.

Graduated from Bishop Hartley High School in 1963 and earned a B.S. in Business Management from Franklin University in 1988. Karyn worked at Columbus Division of Fire (Dispatcher), she worked at Chemical Abstracts. She served as Marketing Director for Sun TV, and also sold Amway through an MLM. She retired from AEP Electric and Power. She was a volunteer for AARP and an active member of Unity Church. Karyn loved reality TV, The Young and the Restless and spending time with family.

Preceded in death by parents Ella Mae Cowan and William "Bill" Clement; brother Julius Leo Cowan; niece Terri Lynn Timberlake; nephew Erin Cowan; and granddaughter D'Layla Lenise Johnson. Succeeded by: sons Derrick L. Johnson (Shonell D. Johnson), Damon Lavelle Johnson, and Daryn Lamar Wells. Grand blessings: Daizha B.E. "Cherimondis J" Johnson, D'Kyra L. Johnson, Diamond L. Johnson, and Destiny L. Johnson.

Memorial/ Funeral service: Thursday, July 02, 2026, 1:00 PM - Unity of Columbus Church, 4211 Maize Rd., Columbus, OH. 43224. Reception to follow after. Flowers may be made sent to Unity of Columbus Church.

Karyn's life was a miracle from day one and continues into the afterlife. She shared her miracle of life with so many friends and family members over the years, and although we will miss her physical form, her life shines on in her friends and family.
