It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Khagi Biswa, who departed on September 18, 2024, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus Ohio. Born on January 1, 1952, in Chirang, Bhutan, from her father late lachhuman Kalikotay and mother late mon Maya Kalikotay. She grew up with her only brother and a sister. Khagi lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her family. She was adopted by late Damber Singh after the death of her father when she was a little baby.

Khagi was a devoted wife to her beloved husband and a nurturing mother to her 2 sons and 5 daughters. She was a caring mother in-law to her daughters-in-law and sons-in-law. She took immense pride in her role as a matriarch and was blessed with 22 grandchildren, 1 grandson-in-law and 2 great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her universe, and she dedicated herself to ensuring their happiness and well-being. She lived in Beldagi 2 camp from 1992 and moved to United States in Twin Falls, Idaho in 2011 in search of better life for her family and then to Columbus, Ohio in 2016.

Throughout her life, Khagi faced numerous challenges but approached each obstacle with grace and determination. Her strength in adversity inspired those around her. She was known for her warm spirit and welcoming nature; anyone who visited her home was greeted with open arms and offered something to eat or drink. Her generosity extended beyond mere hospitality; she had an innate ability to make everyone feel valued and loved.

Khagi had a particular fondness for the color red, which symbolized her vibrant personality and passion for life. She embodied positivity and never spoke ill of others; instead, she focused on uplifting those around her. Her gentle demeanor left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

As we remember Khagi Biswa, let us celebrate the legacy of love she leaves behind—a legacy that will continue through the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in our hearts.

Visitation is from 3 - 4 PM at Pfeifer Woodyard Funeral Home on Friday, September 20, 2024. The funeral service is scheduled on Saturday, September 21 from 10 AM - 12:30 PM, with burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 1 PM.
