Ky Phommalysack, age 91, passed away peacefully in Columbus, Ohio, on Sunday, November 9th, at 12:02 a.m., surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Ky was born on March 5th, 1936, in the village of Ban Nakeo. After marrying Bounsy Soymalysack (preceded in death in 1988), she settled in Saphay, where she devoted herself to raising their 11 children. Ky moved to the United States in 1991 to help raise one grandchild and ended up staying to raise eight more.

She was a devoted member of Wat Lao Buddhamamakaram, where she spent countless hours in prayer and community service. Outside the temple, Ky found joy in tending her garden and preparing her favorite treats for family and friends. Her kindness and strength will be remembered by all who knew her.

Ky was preceded in death by her husband and five sons. She is survived by five daughters – Phetdavanh, Aphiphone (Sangthong), Vilaykone (Kinnavong), Amone, Sithone (Boun); Son, Hane (Vilayvanh); her sixteen grandchildren – Johnny, Victoria (Lino), Anna, Keovixay, Andy, Paboo, Poona, Kee, Nuk, Alena, Kourtney, Kelsey, Andre, Aaron, Nataly, Harry; and two great-grandchildren – Quilo and Vala.

Service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 2:00 PM at O. R. Woodyard Co. Funeral & Cremation Services, 1346 S High St, Columbus, OH. There will be a viewing on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM.
