Larry Thomas Adams, 77, of Grove City, Ohio, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 31st at Kobacker House, surrounded by love after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Born on December 22,1948 in Paintsville, KY, Larry was a man whose warmth and spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a devoted husband to Penny Hicks Adams, his partner and best friend for 52 years, sharing 46 beautiful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they built a life grounded in family and kindness.

Larry was a proud father to his daughters, Summer Adams and January (David Downs) Adams, and a doting grandfather to Coen, Ryker, and Jovi Adams, who brought him immense joy. His family was the center of his universe, and he delighted in every moment spent with them—from watching "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies with Coen, driving Ryker to school, to cuddling with little Jovi.

A graduate of South High School, Larry carried a strong sense of duty and honor as a United States Army veteran stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. During his two years of service, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Sharpshooter Badge with M16 Rifle Bar, reflecting his dedication and skill.

Larry's professional life was marked by his commitment to the Columbus City Schools community, where he worked for over 20 years as a head custodian. Colleagues and students alike respected and valued his hard work and kindness. Outside of work, Larry was an accomplished auto mechanic with a special passion for Camaros, a hobby that spoke to his love for precision and craftsmanship.

Larry's interests revealed his colorful personality—he loved fishing at local spots like Deer Creek, endlessly tinkering with gaming systems to get them running again, and watching crazy cop videos that made him laugh. Known for his outgoing nature and genuine warmth, Larry never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, often talking their ear off with his stories and humor.

He had beautiful blue eyes, great hair, and a deep love for classic rock music, which often filled the room as he worked on his many projects. Most importantly, Larry had a heart full of love and compassion. He always sensed when someone needed comfort and was quick to offer a hug that was just right for the moment.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Garnet and Fed Adams, and his brother, Billy Adams. He is survived by his loving wife Penny; his sister-in-law, Dottie Adams-Young; his sister, Sandra Long-Dixon; and special cousins and nieces, including Vicki and Lisa, who were dear to his heart.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Hicks brothers and their wives for their steadfast love and support throughout the years. There is also a deep gratitude to the close friends and family, including cousins Connie and Dennis, who visited Larry at Kobacker House, bringing comfort in his final days. The overwhelming support from the VA was also vital to Larry and his family as they navigated his illness.

Larry Thomas Adams will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his loving spirit, his infectious smile, and the countless ways he touched the lives of those around him. His legacy of kindness, strength, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A funeral service for Larry will be held at The Naz Church, 4770 Hoover Rd., Grove City, OH on June 13, 2026 beginning at 2:00 p.m.
