Larry McDowell, age 74, of Grove City, passed away peacefully on May 26th.  Preceded in death by his father Charles, mother Jessie, older brother Chuck, and sister-n-law Linda McDowell, and younger sister Jeanie (McDowell) Wheeler.  He graduated from Marion Franklin High School in 1970. Larry was employed by Wasserstrom & Sons for 13 years, but later retired from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office where he established a career as a Deputy Sheriff, as well as a Detective for over 25 years.  He served as a member of the SERT Team, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.  Survived by wife Wilma (Brewer), son Kyle, daughter-n-law Katie, and granddaughters Karys and Keelyn McDowell, daughter Courtney (McDowell), son-n-law Paul, granddaughter Payton, and grandson Paul King, granddaughter Zoey (King), grandson-n-law Jordan, and great granddaughter Gracelyn Ordaz, brother Joe, sister-n-law Gerry McDowell, and brother-n-law Bill Wheeler.  Additionally, Larry has the extended McDowell and Brewer families, as well as many nieces and nephews that were near and dear to his heart.

Of all Larry's accomplishments, none brought him more happiness than being a husband, father, and a "Poey" (grandfather).  His 5 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter were the pride and joy of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.  Though he will be deeply missed, his memory, love, and spirit will live on through each of them forever.

Please join us in celebrating Larry's life on Thursday, June 4th, from 4-7 PM for visitation at O. R. Woodyard South Chapel 1346 S. High St.  In honor of Larry's love for the Ohio State Buckeyes, we invite you to wear your Buckeye's gear.  Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 5th.  Visitation will begin at 11:30 AM, with the Funeral Services immediately following at 12:30 PM.  Larry will be laid to rest at the Concord West Cemetery in Grove City.
