Mable W. Clay, 84, was born in Logan, West Virginia on May 20, 1935. She went home to be with her Lord on May 10, 2020. She was born to Arnold and Perlina (Bailes) Workman. Mable was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a devout member of numerous Masonic organizations including Amaranth (Columbus Court #58), Eastern Star (Grove City Chapter #502), Daughters of the Nile (Thebes Temple #87), White Shrine (North Star Shrine #45), and Oriental Shrine (Thea Court #5). Mable first joined Amaranth (Pallas Court #13) in 1983. She was Royal Matron in 1988-1989 and 2019-2020, Grand Royal Matron in 1995-1996, and served as Grand Trustee, Grand Representative, and Deputy Supreme Royal Matron for five years. Mable held several other offices though the years including Worthy Matron in Eastern Star. She is preceded in death by father, Arnold Workman; mother, Perlina Workman; twin sister, Hazel Workman; brothers, Arnold Workman, Jr., Raymond Workman, and James Workman; sisters, Gladys Brickles, Lena Mae Mauk, and Letha Workman; husband, Charles Clifton Clay; daughter, Karen Gwen Clay; great granddaughter, Diana Grace Dotson. Mable leaves behind sister, Thelma Fenney; brother, Franklin Workman; daughter, Sharon (Douglas) Sawyer; grandchildren, Tera (Russell) Wirick, Benjamin Charles (Jennifer) Dotson, and Ashley (Jesse) Sawyer; great grandchildren, Clay (Asia) Wirick, Colt Wirick, Benjamin Douglas (Larissa) Dotson, Brittany (Alexis) Dotson, Liliana Wirick, Jade Johnson, and Heidi Sawyer; great great granddaughter Eliza Wirick; as well as many other relatives and dear friends. Private services will be held on Thursday, May 14 at O.R. Woodyard Co. with Reverend Aaron Dillon officiating. Interment will be at Isaac Sloane Cemetery on Friday, May 15 in West Hamlin, West Virginia.
