Marcella Jean Hoover, age 79, tragically passed away on March 16, 2026. She was born on April 19, 1946 in Orrville, Ohio to Leeman and Dorothy (Odenkirk) Geiser. Marcella graduated from Waynedale High School in Apple Creek, Ohio. On December 10, 1977 she married James F. Hoover who preceded her in death in 2014.
For many years she and Jim made their home in Warsaw, Ohio before moving to Reynoldsburg to be closer to her sister. She was a homemaker and a cook at Echoing Hills Village in Warsaw, Ohio. Marcella was a long-time member of the Warsaw Lyon's Club. She volunteered her time at local polling places each election year. Marcella was a member of the Violet Baptist Church in Pickerington, Ohio, and she was an avid strawberry collector. Most importantly, Marcella enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a friend to everyone, If someone needed her she was there without question.
Those left to survive and carry on Marcella's memory are her brother, Gerry (Cheyenne) Geiser, and sister-in-law, Bonnie Geiser; her children, Thomas (Bonnie) Hoover, Jamie (Diane) Hoover; her grandchildren, Ryan Stuckey, Jackie Mardis, Craig Hoover, Amanda Klein, Crystal Hoover, and Tina Acosta; her nieces, Kristina (Phil) Hanegan, Kelly (Chris) Harris, Lisa Geiser and nephew, Jay Geiser. She also had several beloved great-grandchildren. Marcella also leaves behind her significant other, Bill Sams; and her best friends, Nancy Smith and Peggy Hiser, as well as many other friends.
Marcella was preceded in death not only by her parents, Leeman and Dorothy, but also her husband, James, her brothers, Wilbur and Kenneth Geiser, sister, Beverly Flenner; her children, Jill Willis and Harleigh Marsh.
Burial will follow at a later date at the Tiverton Baptist Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
The family is inviting friends and relatives for calling hours Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 2 to 4 pm at Violet Baptist Church, 8345 Blacklick-Eastern Rd NW, Pickerington, Ohio 43147, with the service beginning at 4 pm; Pastor Rick Williams, officiating.
