Margaret N.
Arriaga
Jul 20, 1934 — Jun 11, 2025
Margaret N. Arriaga passed away June 11, 2025, in Groveport, Ohio following a prolonged illness. She
was 90 years old. Born July 20, 1934, to Henry P. and Concha M. Nieto, she was raised, along with her
siblings, in Belton, Texas. A graduate of Belton High School, Margaret was a drummer in the marching
band. Belton was the place she always considered home regardless of where she lived. It was there
where she met her future husband, Isaias G. Arriaga, a football player and band member from a rival
high school.
He joined the Air Force and would hitchhike back to Belton to see her when he had weekend passes.
They married August 4, 1954, in Altus, Oklahoma. A devoted wife, she supported her husband
throughout his military career, and always looked forward to those times they could be together. She
was a wonderful and loving mother, supporting her children in all their endeavors. She cultivated
lifelong friendships wherever she lived and enjoyed keeping up with her friends.
A devout Christian, her activities centered around the church, singing in the choir & teaching Sunday
School. Her love for the Lord and her devotion to others were epitomized by her many years of working
with Stowe Mission of Central Ohio. There she tutored children and teenagers, taught adults how to read
and write and volunteered with their community kitchen feeding the hungry and homeless.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of more than 70 years, Isaias G. Arriaga. Additionally,
she was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Angelina Mendez Nieto, Luciana N. Trevino, and
her brothers Henry P. Nieto Jr, and Benjamin Nieto. She is survived by siblings Mary Esther Nieto, Reyes
Nieto, and Lucas Mendez Nieto, all of Belton. She is also survived by her children Isaias G. Arriaga, Jr.
(Karen), Steven Arriaga (Carolyn), David Arriaga (Nanette), Philip Arriaga (Paula), and Rachel Arriaga
Sutherland as well as many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
