Obituary

Maria P. Gesouras, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 18, 2025. She was born on October 2, 1948, in Leonidio, Greece to Pete and Christina Ragias, who both preceded her in death. Maria immigrated to the United States in 1951. She was married to her beloved husband, Pete Gesouras, for 54 wonderful years. She is survived by her husband, Pete, and her loving children, Athanasia (Jaime) Regules, George (Stephanie) Gesouras, Christina (Arny) Martin, and Kallie (Mike) Uhl. Her grandchildren, Katerina, Maria, Sophia, Niklas, Petros, Pete, and Hannah, will forever cherish all the memories they had with her. Maria's siblings, George Ragias, Argirios (Theodosia) Ragias, Grigorios (Denise) Ragias, and Paul (Nancy) Ragias, as well as her numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren, will all remember her with love.

Maria retired from Columbus City Schools in 2008 after dedicating 25 years of service. She was an active member of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Philoptochos, Daughters of Penelope, and volunteered at the Greek Festival for many years. Her faith and family meant everything to her. Maria loved cooking for her family and cherished spending time with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren.

She could strike up a conversation with anyone and could turn any stranger into a friend. Her presence left a lasting impression on everyone she met, and her playful sarcasm was a hallmark of her vibrant personality. She had a heart of gold and touched many lives with her kindness and generosity.

Maria's legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her absence will be profoundly felt by her entire family and friends, who will miss her dearly. May her memory be eternal.
