I, Marjorie Fonto, was born on November 3, 1930 in Lancaster, OH; and according to my heirs, died on Thursday, April 11, 2024. I am grateful to my parents, Lillian Mauk Bauman and Clarence Jacob Bauman for their kindness and guidance shown to me in my upbringing. My protective brother, John William Bauman, a WWII veteran, and six years older than I, provided me with helpful advice and instructions. I married my wonderful Ed Fonto in 1959, a veteran of WWII. We had a beautiful 32 years teaching and traveling together across the United States. John William and his wife Jesse had two girls, Peggy Lee and Billie Ann. Both nieces have been thoughtful, especially in my later years. I would be remiss if I failed to mention Olive Ream Lovebury of Somerset, OH, who gifted me with the means to attend The Ohio State University where I received my B.S. Degree in Education. It has been my great opportunity to continue my education at Middlebury College in Vermont. Here I received my M.A. with a solid background for my profession of teaching Spanish. What a joy it was to spend 22 years teaching wonderful young folks at Clinton Jr. High in Columbus, OH. It was my great fortune to receive support during my good husband's illness from Eleanor McBurney, Columbus, OH and Virginia Schwarm of Hartford, CT. Also, it was my good luck to meet a kind and faithful friend, Judith Anderson, Plain City, OH. Early in our friendship, we enjoyed travel and shopping, and in my later years she called me every day to check on me. Furthermore, she is a wonderful cook, and is quite generous with her delicious dishes. Needless to say, she has been a wonderful friend. How grateful I have been for another special friend, Anne Tyler. A great traveling companion and caregiver. In addition, I wish to remember Rita Damiano and Ed Edinger for their many hours of outstanding assistance. Then, of course, I wish to pay my gratitude towards my many kind and helpful neighbors and many in the medical field and numerable thoughtful folks in the public. Also, as a member of the American Association of University Women and Clintonville Women's Club, I met many friendly people and participated in many activities offered by both.
