Obituary

Mark Joseph Tackett, 44, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. He was born alongside his twin brother on December 12, 1979, and was the youngest born son (even if only by a minute!) of the late Jerry and Joyce (Hall) Tackett. Mark was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, by his loving parents, where he grew up with his two older brothers, his twin brother, his many friends, and his close, extended family.

Mark had a twinkle in his bright blue eyes from the very beginning, such that by looking at him one could easily see his goodness, his silliness, his innocent mischief, his sense of wonder, and his loving nature. His big ideas for all-things-possible began at a young age and continued with him throughout his life. Mark had a rich sense of humor and a remarkable availability for positivity, optimism, and joy. He was creative and innovative, and his ideas and plans for new and improved things were endless. Mark was bright and studious, experiencing mastery wherever he placed his focus, be it his personal hobbies or his professional endeavors.

Mark was known to light up any room he entered, often hailed as "the life of the party." He simply knew how to have fun and he found or created fun all around him. Mark held a sense of adventure throughout his life, always ready to experience the next fun, great, new thing. His fondness for novelty and reinvention led him to different careers, where he demonstrated excellence in the electrical field, the medical field, and project- and service-management fields. Mark had many hobbies and was always eager to share his love of all his interests with any willing to listen and join in on the fun.

Mark's proudest moments were when he welcomed his two sons, A.J. and Drake, into the world. Mark loved his boys with all his heart and loved more than anything to spend time with them. Mark and his boys shared many great adventures together, both local ones as close as within their own home, to adventures abroad that took them as far as Iceland and Japan. Mark was always ready for the next new experience to share with his boys, and when they weren't off having one of their great adventures he was busy planning their next. Mark was proud to be a dad and he was proud of his boys. He loved and cherished them, and he was an example to all of what it is, means, and looks like to be a good and loving father.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Joyce (Hall) Tackett. Mark is survived by his sons: A.J. and Drake (Brooke) Tackett; his siblings: Jeremy (Lana), Adam, and Matthew (Melissa) Tackett; his nieces and nephews: Wesley, Emily, Justin, Hallie, Austin, Kennedy, Keegan, Angela, and Kaylee; his great nephew: Danny; his girlfriend, Julie; and a host of friends and family to celebrate his life and mourn his untimely passing.
