Marshall H. Barnes, III was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 17, 1960 to Marshall H. Barnes, II and Mary Elizabeth Barnes. He departed this life on October 24, 2025. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Elizabeth and leaves to cherish his memory brother Mitchell L. (Cory), nieces Katherine E. (Elizabeth), Marin C. Strong (Willie D.), nephew Hayes D. Barnes, grand nephew Luka H. Strong, aunts Lois R. Toles of Massillon and Milicent N. Eason of Painesville, uncle Joe L. Watkins of Dayton, along with numerous cousins and friends. Marshall was a prolific researcher in physics, and was well known for his writings on parallel universes, time travel, and quantum mechanics. He was inducted into Scientific American Magazine's 1,000 Scientists in 1,000 Days. He was an advocate of STEM education for high school students in Ohio. Among his achievements was the invention of the Space-Time Dilator Transmitter System (STDTS). He also was recognized for creating the Oppenheimer Strain Project of SuperScience for High School Physics program, in which science students were able to detect a critical flaw in the presentation of Stephen Hawking's "Mad Scientist Paradox" For this work Barnes received accolades from many independent school districts in Central Ohio. The family will receive friends on October 31 between 6:00pm and 8:00pm at O.R. Woodyard Funeral Services 1346 S High Street in Columbus, Ohio. Interment will take place November 1 at 11am in Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton, Ohio.
