Mary Isabell Absten, age 90, took her last breath and was ushered into the arms of Jesus on December 8, 2024. She was born on August 6, 1934, daughter of the late John and Pina (Barr) Stone of Leon, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Lee D. Absten, son Terry L. Absten, sister Goldie Price, and brothers; John, Herbert, William, Clarence, and Denver Stone. Mary is survived by her children; Glenda (Greg) Williams, Michael (Sue) Absten, Lisa (Bill) Fitzpatrick, Teresa (Mike) Smith, and Mary Lou (Will) Maynard, eighteen grandchildren, twenty -three great-grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends.
Mary retired from Groveport Madison Schools as a transportation-aid. She loved league bowling with her family and friends. Mary loved to sing gospel hymns, play bingo, and beat Michael and Will at checkers and Connect 4.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the OR Woodyard Co. Chapel, 1346 South High Street, Columbus, Ohio. The funeral service will be held following visitation at 1pm. Pastor Konan Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Franklin Hills Memorial Gardens, Canal Winchester.
A special thank you is extended to The Inn at Winchester Trail where she has resided for the past three years. The staff there quickly became family. Also, to Capital City Hospice for their love, support and exceptional care, we are eternally grateful.
