Mary Elizabeth Watkins Barnes, was born October 6, 1938 in Canton,Ohio to the late Harry, Sr. and Madeline Mitchell Watkins. She departed this life on October 26,2021 . Elizabeth was a loving, caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nana, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was a 1956 graduate of Timken Vocational High School and attended Kent State University. She retired from the Columbus Public School System following 30 years of service in Columbus and Canton Public Schools. She loved children and always encouraged them to be and do their very best. Elizabeth possessed an outstanding soprano voice and served as a soloist in the churches she attended. She spent many years in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she served as Elder and in other leadership positions. She was a lifetime member of the Timken High School Alumni Association and MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her brothers Charles F., Harry, Jr., John W., Sr., Mitchell, Sr. and sisters Paralee Watkins Compton and Wanda Fowler. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 63 years Marshall H. II, sons Marshall H. III and Mitchell L. (Cory), grandchildren Katherine Elizabeth (Elizabeth) Barnes, Marin C. (Willie D. Jr.) Strong, and Hayes D. Barnes, brother Joe L. Watkins of Dayton, Ohio, sisters-in-law Lois Toles of Massillon, Ohio and Milicent Eason of Mentor, Ohio, sister/friend Lillian Richardson, Eleanor Smith, the Dawit Tesfai Family, the Mesay Negash Family, Anna Williams of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She lives on in the hearts of those she touched with God's love.
