Mary Jane Shaffer, age 93, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 20, 2025 in Bradenton, Fl. Formerly a Hilliard, Ohio resident, she was born February 16, 1932 to the late Robert D. and Edith Irene (Krieg) Snider. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Donald E. Shaffer in 2016. Siblings: D. Maxiene (Robert) Redick, Paul G. (Ruth) Snider and R. Mark Snider. She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca (Eric) Guth and Susan (John) Flora of Bradenton, FL; grandsons; Kevin C. (Angela Moffit) Guth of Norwalk, OH. and Scott (Christine) Guth of Columbus, OH; granddaughters, Rachael Peel and Karen (Adam) Brewer of Bradenton, FL; 5 great grandchildren, Rylan Edward and Karlee Paige Brewer; Amanda Irene, Samantha Jane and Timothy Donald Guth, and one great grandson on the way! She is also survived by sister-in-law, Betty Snider of "Cincinnata;" many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and lifelong friends. Jane is a graduate of Spencerville High School, Class of 1950. She proudly attended The Ohio State University for one quarter with a perfect GPA. She played flute, piano and organ, and loved to sing when she was younger. She was a member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church for many years, where she played with the Handbell and Vocal Choirs. She was also a 50-year member of Hilliard Grange. Jane was a loyal wife, devoted mother, and excellent grandmother. Throughout their time in Hilliard, their home was a gathering place, bringing family and friends together around the pool for countless reunions, parties, and holiday celebrations. Her table was always open for meals and Pinochle. She has left behind a legacy of love, providing countless memories that will be treasured forever by all who loved her. Her faith in God was only matched by her stubbornness. She was blessed with a complete life, as she was unafraid of death. Upon God's command, she embraced the start of her new journey to paradise and is now wrapped in eternal love. A memorial service Jane and Don's life will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 1 P.M. at the Upper Arlington Lutheran Church Mill Run Campus, 3500 Mill Run Dr. Hilliard, OH 43026.
