Michael Allen Tackett
June 12, 1952 – October 27, 2026
Michael Allen Tackett, 74, of Ashville, Ohio, passed away on October 27, 2026. Born on June 12, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio, he spent his later years in Ashville with his beloved wife, Eva, who preceded him in death in 2017.
Mike was a man of many talents and a true jack-of-all-trades. He worked in maintenance for several companies throughout his career and ultimately retired as head of maintenance at DuPont. If something was broken, he could almost always fix it. He had a lifelong habit of collecting “junk”—though to him, every old item and collectible had a story and a purpose. He never met an antique or castoff he didn’t want to bring home.
Travel was one of his greatest joys. He and Eva took multiple trips a year, and he especially loved Boston, returning there annually with her and their family. He also cherished a trip to Normandy in 2019 with his son. He was a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals fan, a giant practical joker, and a historical smartass whose humor kept those around him laughing. Above all, he loved his family deeply and took special pride and pleasure in being a grandfather. He also adored his dog, Daisy.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife and best friend, Eva Tackett; his son Michael Tackett; his sisters Brenda Tackett and Shirley Mayle; his mother, Mary Tackett; and his father, John Tackett Sr.
He is survived by his sons, Robert Tackett and Adam Tackett; his siblings, John Tackett, Vickie Riley, and Linda Malnati; his grandchildren: Jessie, Kenzie, Addie, Adam, Trevor, Mia, Brady, Sophia, Gracie, Eva, Nora, and Luke; and several nieces and nephews who loved and admired him.
Mike will be remembered for his skillful hands, his love of travel and family, his collector’s eye, and the laughter he brought into every room. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, repaired things, collected treasures, and people who loved him.
