Michael "Mickey" Fleischer , age 85, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026. He was born on June 9, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Michael and Anna (Heinz) Fleischer.
Michael was a proud graduate of St. Mary's High School in German Village. He dedicated many years of service as a maintenance professional at Walnut Ridge High School, where his strong work ethic and reliability were deeply valued. On April 26, 1976, he married the love of his life, Anita J. (Wolf) Fleischer, at St. Joseph Cathedral in Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anita; his parents; his sisters, Mary Sue Donahue and Diane Bayer; and his brother, James Fleischer.
Michael is survived by his sister, Janice Thum; and by many loving nieces and nephews, including Michaela (Thum) Wade, Richard Thum, Suzanne (Thum) Wolcoff, Diana (Thum) Sullivan, Christopher Fleischer, Amanda (Fleischer) Mann, Mary Fleischer, Steven Bayer, Christine (Bayer) Lowe, Patrick Bayer, David Bayer, Colin Donahue, and Tara (Donahue) Lambright, along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews who will cherish his memory.
In his younger years, Michael proudly served in the Ohio National Guard. A man of deep faith, he supported many Catholic organizations throughout his life. He had a special place in his heart for animals and lovingly rescued several Shih Tzu dogs over the years.
Michael was an avid reader with a passion for geography and a remarkable knowledge of many subjects. He enjoyed music, cars, western films, and history. Known for his kind spirit and gift for conversation, he will be remembered as someone who could share a story or a fact about almost anything and always made time for others.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, March 27 from 10 am until the Mass of Christian Burial, at 10:30 am at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corner Rd in Gahanna, Ohio, with Fr. Walter Tuscano officiating.
Michael will be laid to rest at Coral Ridge Cemetery in Cape Coral, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael's honor to St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church.
