Neisel Palmer, age 95, went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 26, 2020. Born April 26, 1925 to Ora and Lina (Shanks) Smith in Elm Grove, Ohio. Preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Cecil R. Palmer; brothers and sisters-in-law Troy (Drucilla), Richard, Verlin (Lillian) and Gary Smith. Survived by daughters, Polly (Clee) Hartsough, Connie (Mike) Kellar and Kim (Jerry) Clements; grandchildren Jeff Hartsough, LaTisha (Matt) Hartsough Heufelder, Chad Hartsough, Rachel (Tony) Owens and Sarah (Vinnie) Clements Olivieri; great grandchildren Nick and Zach Heufelder, Taze and Cecily Owens; sisters-in-law Beulah Smith and Jo Alice Smith; several nieces and nephews. Neisel was very proud that she was the first "Smith" in her family to graduate from (Pike County) high school. She was a skilled seamstress who made the wedding dresses, including veils and bridesmaid dresses, for her three daughters. Neisel worked alongside her husband in several business endeavors including growing Christmas trees on their farm in Adams County and selling them at Palmer Christmas Tree Sales on the corner of Hudson & Dresden for 30 years. Neisel was a hard worker, had a servant's heart and lived to help and care for other people. You never left hungry or empty-handed when you visited her because she would insist you eat and take a care package home. Family was the most important thing in the world to Neisel. She lovingly cared for Cecil throughout their marriage, and was awarded Elder Caregiver of the Year from the Ohio Department of Aging in 2009. The family would like to extend special thanks to Cheryl Rodgers for her love and help the past 15 years; the Ohio Health Hospice team; and all the special staff at Canal Winchester Assisted Living for the love, care and attention they provided Neisel over the past 6 months, but especially during the isolation from family created by the COVID-19 quarantine. Please know that Neisel loved each and every one of you that touched her life. Visitation will be Monday, June 29, 2020 from 4-8 pm at the MYERS-WOODYARD FUNERAL HOME, 587 Main Street in Groveport where the funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:30 am. Family will receive visitors one-half hour prior to service. Interment Groveport Cemetery. Rev. Phil Fulton (Union Hill Church) officiating.
