Nick Soulas, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 30th, 2026. Nick was born on September 21st, in Vergadeika, Greece, to Konstantino and Aggeliki (Vergados) Souhleris. One of six children, he naturally stepped into the role of protector and provider at an early age, serving as a father figure to his siblings and demonstrating the leadership, responsibility, and selflessness that would define his entire life.

He was an incredibly loving, loyal, intelligent, compassionate, and driven son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and godfather. Nick lived for his family and remained steadfastly devoted to them throughout his life. His love was deep, his presence steady, and his guidance unwavering.

Nick immigrated to the United States from Greece at the age of 18, arriving in Boston in pursuit of the American dream. His journey took him to many places before he married his beloved late wife, Stavroula "Stella" Soulas, in Montreal. Together, they settled in Columbus, Ohio, where they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work, and where they raised their three sons.

A tireless worker with an extraordinary vision, Nick was the founder, and owner of Jolly Pirate Donuts. From opening his first store in 1960, he grew a single dream into numerous locations, creating not only a successful business but a lasting legacy. Through perseverance, integrity, and an unyielding commitment to excellence, he built opportunities that spanned generations—not only for his family, but for countless others within his community. He took great pride in supporting his church, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, which he loved deeply. A devoted parishioner, he served on the Parish Council, playing a leading role in the building of the current Cathedral, and chaired several Greek festivals, generously giving back to the faith, community and institutions that shaped his life.

Nick is survived by his wife Mary Kallis, his three sons: Constantine (Andonia) Soulas, George (Fotini) Soulas, and Nick Soulas; his grandchildren Stavroula (James), Zabetina (Christos), Stavroula (Mason), Nicoletta (Christos), Stavroula (Nate), Anastasia (Stephen), Nicholas (Christina), and Nikola; his great-grandchildren Zoe, Vasilios, and Isadora. He is also survived by his siblings Vasiliki, Yianni (Anastasia), Evyenia, and Christo (Christina), and the countless members of his extended family who he adored.

He was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife, Stavroula "Stella" Soulas; his parents, Konstantino and Aggeliki Souhleris; brother Elias Souhleris; brothers-in-law Thanasi Anemodouriotis, Evangelos Agganis, Antonios Elias; and sisters-in-law Irene Elias and Maria Nicoloulias.

Nick lived for his family in every sense of the word, placing their needs and future above all else. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, perseverance, generosity, and unconditional love. His life stands as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through hard work, humility, and devotion to family. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the generations he nurtured, the community he strengthened, and the values he instilled in all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 4th at 10am at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Columbus, OH. 555 N. High St. Columbus, OH 43215 Burial to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral Greek Language School Program in Columbus, OH.
