Nona May Cervanetz (MawMaw to most) age 73, passed suddenly on March 31, 2019 at her home surrounded by family. Preceded in death by her late husband, Jesse S Cervantez Sr, her parents Amos and Gladys Maynard, sisters Irene and Marcella Maynard, daughter Connie Lynn Thompson and her grandson Jesse Cervantez III. She is survived by her sister Emma (Robert) Rivas, brothers, Harlan (Debbie) Maynard, Gene Maynard, Jim (Ida Porter) and Greg (Lou) Porter, her sons Charles Mollette, Jesse S Cervantez Jr, John Castleberry and Jesse (JC) Cervantez, also her daughters Kim Mollette, Lisa Mollette and Angie Cervantez. Also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Born on January 8, 1946 and originally from Inez, Kentucky, Nona wasn't to be confined to the mountains of Kentucky, she set her eyes on the big city. Thereby landing in Columbus, Ohio where she established very deep and widespread roots. She was a very "down-to-earth" woman from humble beginnings, she has one of the biggest hearts most people have ever seen. It was natural that the southside community gravitated toward her. Eventually Nona's name and her house became, and will always remain, a monument of legendary status on the southside of Columbus because of her willingness to help people, her authentic "tell it how it is" personality, and her open door policy that never closed. She was 1 of 1, a very unique person, and there will never be another one like her. The family's only wish is that the whole world could've gotten to cross paths with Nonie May and have the pleasure of her company. She will be missed and cherished by many forever more.
