MARTIN Phyllis Jean Martin, age 74, was born Jan. 16, 1940 in Martin County Kentucky and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 23, 2014. Phyllis retired from the Columbus Developmental Center after 35 yrs. Preceded in death by her parents, John and Mona Chafins; her beloved husband of 30 yrs., Carl W. Martin; siblings, Carlos Chafins, John Chafins Jr., Gladiola Maynard and Juanita Boyce. Survived by her children, Carla Martin, Shawn C. Martin and Christy Allen all of Columbus; grandchildren, Kierre Moore, Josalynn (Marlin) Evans, Thomas Allen II, Christian Martin, Sydney Moore, Sierra Martin and Cora Martin; great grandson, Jaylen Evans; brothers, Donald (May) Chafins of FL. & Bobby (Joyce) Chafins of Columbus; sisters, Wanda (Leon) Taylor of Louisiana and Linda (Howard) Hatmaker of FL. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 5-8 pm at the O. R. WOODYARD CO. CHAPEL 1346 S. High Street where the funeral service will be Wednesday 10 am. Pastor Janice Hughes officiating.
