Phyllis Jean Sansom May was born in Matewan, West Virginia, on April 26, 1940. She was called home to heaven on March 9, 2025. She died peacefully at home with her family by her side. Phyllis loved her Savior, Jesus Christ and her family. She was a Sunday School teacher for 33 years at Parsons Baptist Church, and was an avid reader of her Bible, daily devotions, and Christian literature. She retired from retail management after 21 years of service. Phyllis was the daughter of Wade Sansom and Ruth Virginia (Roberts) Sansom. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert Lee May, her sister Bobbie Jo Ratcliff, and her brother James Richard Sansom. She is survived by her sister Eleanor Patricia Hatfield, and Phyllis and Robert's 6 daughters: Robyn Leigh (Dave), Kimberly Ruth (Rusty), Angela Marie (Mark), Christine Noelle (Kevin), Patricia Lynn (JD), and Markita Leigh (Matt). She has 14 grandchildren: Wade (Alyssa), Christopher, and Ryan, Kaitlin (Zac) and Katharine (Eli), Megan (Mitchell) and Olivia, Brooke and Blake (Katie), Christian and Joshua, and Micah, Dathan, and Cole. She has four great-grandchildren: Paisley and Jackson, and Kaiden and Elaina. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends donate to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering in Phyllis' honor. Pastor David Frasure will officiate a family graveside service celebrating Phyllis' life. Final arrangements entrusted to the O.R. WOODYARD CO. South High St. Chapel in Columbus, OH.
