After a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her family, our guiding light and beloved mother passed away peacefully at home with her family. Renate D. (Mutschler) Schmidt age 92, of Canal Winchester, formerly of Sidney completed her journey May 16th, 2026. Renate was born on June 26, 1933 in Bartelstein, West Prussia, Germany to loving and devoted parents Walter and Lorraine (Flejter) Mutschler. Renate was preceded in death by her husband Ernest R. Schmidt.

Renate is survived by her son, Dr. Mark Schmidt; her daughter, Michelle (Schmidt) Powers; and her son-in-law, Gary Page. She is also survived by her beautiful, beloved grandchildren, Dr. Marcus Page, Dr. Gladdis (Thomas) Page, Dr. Bianca Page, Dr. Jeffrey (JR) Greenlee, Dr. Symara Schmidt Rubio, Ruben Rubio, Marissa Schmidt, and Alexis Schmidt; and her adorable great-granddaughter, Thea Page. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Her world was recently shattered by the unexpected and profound loss of her beloved daughter, Simone (Schmidt) Page. She was further preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Gilbert Mutschler, Norbert Mutschler, and Dietmar Mutschler; and her sisters, Astrid Mutschler and Alice (Mutschler) Mowers, as well as her nephew.

Renate's legacy of kindness, love, and inclusion lives on through her children, grandchildren, great grandchild and many of her beloved nieces and nephews. Her love and memory will remain a lasting gift to all who knew her.

Her life will be remembered not in a single memorial service, but in the endless, endearing moments of love she shared and inspired among family and friends. Deeply loved and endlessly treasured, her spirit, grace and presence will be missed beyond measure. Inurnment to be taken place privately.
