Reverend James Oliver Stevens, age 77, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 30, 2018. Retired from Madison Correctional Facility. Member of South Columbus Freewill Baptist Church where he was the assistant pastor for many years. Preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary; grandson, Seth Austin Stevens; parents, Byrd and Stella Stevens ,siblings, Esther (James) Clay, Clester (Mildred) Stevens, Audrey (Earl) Kelly and Betty (Hearl) Clay; brother-in-law, Harold Owens; mother-in-law, Edith (Wallace) Hanshaw; brother-in-law, Frank Hanshaw. Survived by wife, Greta Stevens; Children, Gwen (John Massey) Stevens, Cindy (Cliff) Landin and Brad (Jennifer) Stevens; grandchildren, Ryan (Lindsay) Hammond, Chelsea Bender, Nick (Dafne) Stevens, Troy (Sarah) Stevens and Matt (Erika) Stevens; great grandchildren, Scarlett, Anton, Tien, Delilah and Calvin; brother, Bill (Juanita) Stevens; sister, Patricia Owens; brothers-in-law, Homer (Tammy) Hanshaw and Joe (Patty) Hanshaw; sisters-in-law, Janet Hanshaw, Opal Caudill, Patsy (Tim) Myers, Martha Sparks and Elaine (Frank) Adkins; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends Monday, July 2nd, from 5-8 pm at the O. R. WOODYARD CO. CHAPEL 1346 S. High Street where the funeral service will be Tuesday at 12 pm. Reverend Tim Stevens officiating.
