Richard Lyle
Fowler, Jr.
May 1, 1946 — Jun 27, 2026
Richard Lyle Fowler Jr., age 80, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026.
Born on May 1, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio, Richard was the beloved son of the late Richard L. Fowler Sr. and Jeannie L. Fowler.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Specialist Five (SP-5). His service reflected the quiet strength, dedication, and sense of duty that would continue to define his life.
Following his military service, Richard built a successful career as an HVAC Drafting Project Coordinator. He was respected for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to every project he undertook.
More than anything, Richard will be remembered as a simple man with a generous heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, never seeking recognition or praise. His kindness, humility, and quiet compassion left a lasting impression on family, friends, neighbors, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Sharon L. Fowler of 25 years; his children, Heather Manbevers, Brandi Fowler, Amy Fowler, Sean Fowler, Angie Sandine, Mike Johnson, Chris Speakman, Karen Watson, Jaimie Beebe, and Kimberley Rutter; fourteen cherished grandchildren; and two beloved great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings, John Fowler and Dan Fowler. Richard was preceded in death by his siblings, David Fowler and Barbara Fowler, as well as his parents, Richard L. Fowler Sr. and Jeannie L. Fowler.
Although our hearts are saddened by his passing, we take comfort in the example Richard set through a life of integrity, service, and quiet generosity. His greatest legacy is the love he shared with his family and the countless lives he touched through simple acts of kindness. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
