Richard Dennis "Rick" Hughes, age 78, passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer,  on November 25, 2025. Born on September 5, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio, Rick was the son of the late Jack and Loretta Hughes.

In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack "Skip" Hughes and John Hughes, as well as his former wife, Marilyn.

He is survived by his children: daughters Tammy Hughes and Jennifer Bell (Ron); and sons Mark McMannis (Caren) and Michael Bell (Amy). Rick was a proud grandfather to Taylor (Patrick) Castleman; Tori (Nathan) Welch; John (Sam); Becca (Mike); and Callie. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Callan, Caysen, Brooks, and Evelyn; along with his sisters-in-law Barbara Hughes and Penny Hughes; several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

Those who knew Rick knew his passion for sports, especially his unwavering love for The Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a proud and longtime member of the Eagles Club on Parsons Avenue, a place where he shared many memories, laughs, and friendships.

Friends may call at the O. R. WOODYARD COMPANY CHAPEL 1346 S. High Street Tuesday, December 2, 2025 from 4-7 pm. Following the viewing, family and friends are invited to gather at the Eagles Club to raise a glass in Rick's honor. All are welcome to celebrate his life, share stories, and remember the man who meant so much to so many.

Rick will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
