Richard "Dick" W. Pinkerton Jr., age 75, passed away at his home in Groveport, OH on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.  Dick was born December 29, 1949 in Columbus, OH to the late Richard W. Sr. and Margaret Pinkerton. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and upon his return he began a 42 year career with the Columbus Dispatch, where he retired as a Press Room Supervisor. Dick is preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, David and Donna Pinkerton; sister-in-law, Viki Mendenhall. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Brenda; children, Angela Pinkerton and Gregory (Dayna) Pinkerton; grandson, Conrad Pinkerton; siblings, Carl Davis, Christopher (Angel) Pinkerton, Rickie Valentine, and Ruthie (Terry) Oliver; brother-in-law, Steven Zarbaugh; sister-in-law, Pamela (Larry) Kleinlein; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation for Dick will be Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the MYERS-WOODYARD FUNERAL HOME, 587 Main St. in Groveport, OH, where funeral service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Paul Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Union Grove Cemetery. Dick's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shown support during this difficult time.
