Obituary

Ricky A. Shepard, of Grove City, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, on March 30, 1953, and moved to Columbus, Ohio, when he was seven years old. Rick resided in Grove City for the last 50 years.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 49 years and 11 months, Sheri (Knapp) Shepard; his son Erick (Ashley) Shepard; his pride and joy grandsons Jase and Rhett Shepard; his daughter Holly Friend (Zach Whitten). He is also survived by his brothers Mike (Carol) Shepard and Ronnie Shepard, and sisters Cindy (Virgil) Downs and Cheryl Craft.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Sandra Shepard; his father and mother-in-law, George and Helen Knapp; and son-in-law Joey Friend.

Rick worked at DeMary Truck for 29 years and later worked as a private contractor for the U.S. Postal Service for 21 years, retiring in 2024. A hardworking man with an unmatched sense of humor, Rick found joy in life's simple pleasure especially spending time with his family. His happy place was at Lake Erie at their camper, where countless memories were made. He also loved traveling with his family to favorite destinations like Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Panama City, Florida.

Rick never met a stranger; he had a way of making everyone feel like a friend. His heart was full of love, laughter, and warmth. Above all, he treasured every moment spent with his family, especially being goofballs with his grandsons Jase and Rhett.

Ricks laughter and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Visitation for Rick will be Friday November 7, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at O.R. Woodyard Co. South High St. Chapel 1346 S. High St. Columbus, Oh. 43207, where funeral services will be held Saturday November 8, 2025, at 10:00 am. Reverend Dr. Brian Jones officiating. Interment Obetz Cemetery.
