Rita J Smith, age 84, passed away August 9, 2014 with her family by her side. She was born March 16, 1930 to the late James and Alvada Edmondson Fountain. She volunteered at Civic SAM association, Gahanna Police Dept., as well as local street watch for 17 years. Preceded in death by husband Clyde Smith, and son Clyde Smith Jr. Survived by children, Larry (Brenda) Smith, Michael Smith, Kathy Coffman, John Doughty, Blynn Doughty, James Doughty, Gerald Whetnall, Debra Hamilton; many grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many friends and acquaintances. Private interment August 18, 2014 at Mifflin Twp. Cemetery. Donations can be made to Columbus Humane Animal Shelter.
