Obituary

Robert B. Schoonover, of Groveport, passed away at the age of 75 on October 6, 2025. Rob was born March 2, 1950 in Burlington, Iowa. He was the son of Robert and Emily Louise (Rockhold) Schoonover. He lived in Burlington and Davenport, Iowa and later moved to Worthington, Ohio. He graduated from Thomas Worthington High School in 1968. In 1969, he enlisted in the US Navy where he was a Boiler Technician CVT-16 on the USS Lexington until 1975. He was a proud Veteran. After his service, he worked at Sears, Roebuck and Company for 36 years as a Distribution Center Supervisor. He then worked for Target as the Head of Maintenance for 10 years and officially retired in 2020. Robert was a very proud member of the Groveport Community where he was President of the Groveport Madison Athletic Boosters for over 20 years. During his time as Booster President he helped raise money for the construction of the new Groveport Madison Cruiser Stadium Concession buildings. He was presented with the Rarey award in 2008 and was inducted into the Groveport Madison High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023. Robert served as an Usher at Ohio State Football games for over 20

years. He loved every moment and took great pride in being even a small part of Buckeye games.

What Rob loved the most was his family. He treasured being a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Spending time with his loved ones brought the most joy to his life. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, whom he adored, Donna (Harris) Schoonover, his twin boys who he loved more than anything and was so proud of, Bryan (Tara) Schoonover and Eric (Emily) Schoonover. His grandchildren Lucy and Tessa Schoonover and Wesley and Emily. His four brothers Timothy (Jeanie) Schoonover, Mark (Anna) Schoonover, Mike (Connie) Schoonover, and James (Denise) Schoonover. His brother and sister-in-law Ken (Diane) Fijalkowski and their two daughters Kim Allen and Sherri (Ed) Davis. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert H. and Emily Louise (Rockhold) Schoonover.

The services will be held at Myers-Woodyard Funeral Home in Groveport, Ohio. The viewing hours will be Wednesday, October 15th from 5-7:30 pm at 587 Main Street. The funeral will be Thursday, October 16 at 11:00 am at Myers-Woodyard followed by a

graveside service at the Groveport Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Robert B. Schoonover to the

Groveport Madison Athletic Boosters and the Lancaster Golden Gales Touchdown Club.
