Obituary

Robert J. Schoonover, 79, passed away on February 19th, 2025, in Pataskala, Ohio. Born on September 10, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio, Robert lived a life filled with love, music, and cherished moments with family and friends.

A proud Army veteran, Robert carried his sense of dedication and camaraderie throughout his life. He found joy in the simple pleasures - fishing for the biggest catch and teaching his daughters/granddaughters the secrets of reeling in a prize fish. His love for music was undeniable; he played guitar with passion and delighted in sharing his tunes with those around him. Whether strumming melodies for his granddaughter or playing music loud enough to be heard from the driveway, Robert's love for song was ever-present. Robert had a deep appreciation for dancing and spent many nights at local VFW halls twirling across the floor with his beloved fiancé, Carolyn "Chevy" Chevalier, and his daughter Brenda and friend Jennine. It was through these lively evenings that he formed lasting friendships and met Chevy, who became such an important part of his life. His dancing shoes and signature hat were always ready for another night of joy and sometimes sneaking off to the casino with his daughter Shelly.

He is survived by his daughters Shelly (Ross) Christy and Brenda (Jim) Schoonover; granddaughters Katie (Rodney) Hook, Mackenzie (Rae) Glaser; his loving fiancé Chevy; loved by many nieces and nephews and many other dear friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Kate and Clark Schoonover, loving partner Joyce Schoonover , and sisters Norma Lee, June and Mae.

Robert's warmth, patience, and unwavering love left an indelible mark on those who knew him. As we remember him, we take comfort in knowing that he danced his way to the pearly gates with style and grace singing . May his memory bring peace to all who loved him.
