Roy E.
Horner
Jul 20, 1945 — Apr 1, 2026
Roy Earl Horner, age 80, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with brain cancer on Passover, April 1, 2026, and entered into the presence of his Savior. Born July 20, 1945, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Roy lived a life rooted in deep faith, kindness, and genuine love for others.
A devoted man of God, Roy was known for his warm conversations, welcoming spirit, and willingness to share the hope of the Gospel through both word and example.
Roy was the son of Frank and Maude Horner, who preceded him in death, and was also preceded by his beloved wife, Loretta Horner, to whom he was married for 58 years before her passing three years ago. He was brother to Art (Helen) Horner (deceased); sisters Alty (Ed) Collins (living), Audrey (Harold) Ferguson, Ida (Ben) Blevins, and Cora (Ron) James (all deceased); and Zona (John) George (living).
He is survived by his four sons, Steven R. Horner (Lucy), Robert G. Horner, Timothy G. Horner (Jennifer), and Rodney L. Horner (Stephanie), all of the Columbus area, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him great joy.
In accordance with Roy's wishes, there will be no visitation or public service. A private memorial burial will be held in Lockbourne, Ohio. The family takes comfort in knowing he is now whole, at peace, and rejoicing in eternal life.
