Russell Joseph
Herboltzheimer
Nov 21, 1938 — Oct 21, 2025
Russell "Russ" Joseph Herboltzheimer, born November 21, 1938, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Russ retired from Old Trail Printing Co. after fifty years as a press operator, many of those as head pressman. He met the love of his life, Joyce Wolford in 1956, at a gathering of friends with the Road Rockets Car Club. He and Joyce were married in July 1959, and shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. They spent countless weekends driving their restored classic cars to cruise-ins and car shows, with "his and hers" '58 Impalas being their most cherished of them all. Surviving Russ are children Cynthia Kovatch, of Lancaster, OH, and Jeffrey Herboltzheimer, of Baltimore, OH, respectively; half-brothers Michael, Richard, and Thomas Herboltzheimer; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Russ was preceded in death by wife, Joyce (Wolford) Herboltzheimer, their firstborn son, Christopher "Herb" Herboltzheimer; half-sister, Susan Herboltzheimer, and parents.Russ spent the majority of his life as a classic car enthusiast and restored many classics still found on the roads and at car shows today. One of his greatest restorations, a 1969 Oldsmobile 442 W32 convertible went on to be sold at the Barrett Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 2005. In his teenage years, he was a competitive swimmer. Throughout life, he loved spending time on the water– either swimming, boating, or water skiing. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and throughout the years was often found with Joyce cheering them on at their many athletic, academic, religious and life events. We take comfort in knowing he was ready to meet Jesus and be reunited with Joyce, leaving behind a legacy of faith, wisdom, and kindness. The family will receive friends Monday, October 27st, from 6-8 PM at O.R. Woodyard Co. Funeral Home, 1346 S. High St., Columbus, OH, 43207. Christian Graveside Service Tuesday, October 28th, at 11 AM at St. Joseph Cemetery. Entombment to follow. Rev. Brittany Zahler, Celebrant. Celebration of Life Luncheon afterward at Whitehall Church of the Nazarene, 739 S. Yearling Road, Whitehall, OH, 43213.
