Sermontee Christine Oliver, age 90, went to be with the Lord November 12, 2014. Born February 19, 1924 in Columbus Ohio to the late Henry and Hattie (Skipper) Hill. She graduated from South High School in 1942. Retired from Columbus City Schools where she served as an Instructional Aide at Reeb Ave. Elementary School. She was a charter member of Resurrection Missionary Baptist Church (formerly Reeb-Hosack Community Baptist Church) where she served as a member of the Senior Choir, Naomi Missionary Society, and Columbus Baptist Pastors Conference Mass Choir. Sermontee participated in the Little Mrs. Thursday Morning Ladies Bowling League at Holiday lanes as a member of the Golden Girls Team until 2011 and Tuesday Morning Ladies League at Eastland Lanes. Preceded in death by husband, Winfred Oliver and brother, Willie Hill. She is survived by daughters, Vivian L. (Norman) Brown and Mardesa Jo Oliver (Fianc, Reginald Nathan); granddaughter, Sermontee A. Brown; nieces, January Hill, Joshlin Hill, Jasmine Hill, and Vanessa Taylor; nephew, James Glass; numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends of both Columbus and Ft. Worth, Texas; as well as countless individuals who adopted her as their mother and grandmother. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 6 to 8 pm at O R Woodyard South Chapel 1346 S. High St. as well as Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service at 12 noon at Resurrection Missionary Baptist Church 258 Hosack St. Dr. John S. Little officiating. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery.
