Obituary

Sharon “Susie” Halley (Brown)

Sharon “Susie” Halley (Brown), age 78, was a simple woman who loved God, loved her family, and did what she could to help others. Matthew 25:40 was the verse she lived by, and she showed that faith in the way she cared for people.

Susie didn’t need fancy things to make her happy. Time with family and an evening phone call with a friend or loved one meant so much to her. She enjoyed checking in, sharing memories, and hearing how everyone was doing. Those everyday conversations will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children, Robert McDowell and Robin McDowell, her sister, Doris King (David), her grandchildren, Tiffany McDowell, Ryan McDowell, Gage McDowell, and Brandon McDowell, and her great granddaughter, Ry’Lynn. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and other family members who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Halley; her parents, Ruth Hogan and Melvin Brown; her brother, William Hogan (Nancy); her sister, Janet Roberts (Gary); and her granddaughter, Brittany McDowell.

Her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace with God and reunited with loved ones who went before her. Susie wanted those she loved to know God and hoped they would all be together again in heaven someday. She will be missed in the everyday moments—the phone calls, the conversations, and the comfort of knowing she cared.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at the O.R. WOOYDYARD CO. South Chapel, 1346 S. High St. in Columbus, OH. Interment will follow at Fernwood Cemetery, Lockbourne, OH.
