John "Steve" Evans, age 69, passed away on May 31, 2018 at Kobacker House. Steve was born in Columbus, OH on November 26, 1948 to the late Joseph and Evelyn Evans. He spent his childhood in Bloomingburg, OH with his 11 siblings. He graduated from Miami Trace High School then went on to get his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Business Administration from The Ohio State University. While attending OSU, he met the love of his life, Beverly Smith. Steve served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army while stationed in Texas. After his time in the service, he returned to Columbus where he owned several businesses in the area. He also became involved in education as an adjunct professor of business at local colleges and as a member of the Hamilton TWP Board of Education. His passions in life included publishing his poetry, building furniture, gardening, painting, photography, fishing with his grandson, Calvin, and appreciating the beauty of nature. Steve's proudest accomplishment was hand building a cabin on his property in Hocking Hills. He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 loving years, Bev, daughter, Karie, his parents, and seven brothers and sisters. Steve is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Chris) Genheimer; grandchildren, Chase Genheimer and Karie's children, Kalie, Jayla, and Calvin Brown; sisters, Marti Klingshirn and Rosemary (Doug) Williams; brothers, Michael Evans and Phil (Diane) Evans; sister-in-law, Marcia (Neil) Gahagan; and many nieces, nephews, and other dear friends and family.
