Thomas "Tom" A. Burton, age 90, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, OH. Tom was born October 20, 1935, in Columbus, to the late Paul and Dorothy Burton.

Tom is a graduate of South High School, class of 1953. Tom retired as a business partner from A'Jack Flooring from 1982 until 2000. Tom spent many decades as an OHSAA football and basketball official. He also served many seasons as part of the chain crew at Ohio State home football games, as well as an usher at Nationwide Arena for 22 seasons of Blue Jackets games. Tom was often found at Plank's on Parsons as a patron, and later as an employee. He was an avid golfer, and loved traveling, bowling, sudoku, American history, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dorothy Burton; daughter, Deborah Evans; brothers, Phillip and James; and sister-in-law, Juanita. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marion Burton; sons, Thomas W. (Angela) Burton, Bob (Melanie) Gilbert, and Christopher Burton; grandchildren, Jason (Alexandra) Evans, Alexander (fiancée, Skylar Gonyer) Burton, Seth (fiancée, Macy Gausel) Burton, Kendall (fiancée, Chase Pry) Burton, Shiloh Burton, Laurel Burton, Hallie Burton, Nathaniel Burton, Gwynnever Gilbert, and Morgan (Josh Jones) Stephens; great grandchildren, Aiden and Adilynn Evans and Jackson Stephens; niece, Sue (Tom O'Donnell) Burton; and many lifelong friends.

Visitation for Tom will be Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the MYERS-WOODYARD FUNERAL HOME, 587 Main St. in Groveport, OH where funeral service will be held Friday, August 7, 2026, at 10 a.m. Pastor Laura Cavendish will officiate. Interment will follow at Reber Hill Cemetery in Ashville, OH.
