Thomas S. Kappa (74) from Powell, Ohio passed away on July 7th, 2024, with his wife of 48 years, Karyn (Redfern) Kappa, and their daughter, Lauren (Kappa) LaRose, by his side.  Known as Tom and Tommy, he was born to Stephen and Kay Kappa on November 8th, 1949, in Lakewood, Ohio, where he grew up with his older sister, Shirley, and four younger siblings - Billy, Johnny, Jerry, and Patty. Tommy was cherished for his ability to bring joy with his infectious laughter and witty humor. His talent for creating smiles and enjoyment endeared him to everyone he knew. He had a kind heart and great devotion to his family and friends.

Tom Kappa's memory will live on through the trail of inspiration he left behind and the bright smiles he planted during his stay with us. From ruling the football field as the superstar linebacker at Fairview High School to shining under Woody Hayes at THE Ohio State University as a walk on college football player, Tom was a true mentor in various arenas. Blazing new trails as the quintessential dealmaker, visionary, successful corporate senior executive, and a guiding light for future leaders who followed in his footsteps, he enriched the lives and careers of numerous young professionals through his shared wisdom and mentorship.

Family was his heart and soul – a protector, a provider, and a family man through and through. His love will be remembered fondly by his wife (Karyn), daughter (Lauren), son-in-law (Frank), three adoring granddaughters (Hadley, Ellie, and Lainey) who idolized their Pop Pop, his nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. We will celebrate his life with laughter, camaraderie, jelly donuts, and maybe a few Manhattans to toast in honor of the remarkable life he led.

Rest in peace, dear Tom. Your memory will live on in the hearts of those who shared countless laughs and good times with you. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 13 at 10:00 am at St. Agatha Catholic Church 1860 Northam Rd.
