Obituary

Urania Tsitouris, age 87, passed on peacefully on March 12th, 2024. Urania was born in Karpenisi, Evrytania Greece on January 18, 1937, to the late George and Paraskevi (Bakola) Koliou. She attended Karpenisi High School. Urania immigrated to the USA in 1954 and lived in Winchester, KY. Urania attended Berea College in Berea, Kentucky and upon graduation, Urania worked at Sylvania Company in Winchester, KY for many years. When she married on November 19, 1961, in

Lexington, KY to Christ V. Tsitouris, she moved to Columbus, OH. Urania loved to garden, bake, and have family over. Her home was always open to her family and friends in her neighborhood, especially with Greek Coffee to greet them.

She is preceded in death by her husband Christ, her sons: baby George and George (GT), her parents George and Paraskevi (Bakola) Koliou Collis, her brother John Kolios from Athens, Greece, and sister Alkmini Gregor from Miami, FL.

Urania is survived by her son William (Bill) and daughter Stavroula (Stephanie) Tsitouris, grandchildren Lucas, Sophia, Christina, and great grandson Lincoln. She is also survived by her brother Nick (Noelle) Collis of Columbus, OH, sisters Pam (the late Walter Jr.) Cox of Lexington,KY, Maria (Bill) Kokorelis, and Elpitha (Marty) Shaw of Miami,FL and numerous nieces and nephews.

Urania was a member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Ladies of Philoptochos. She served her community well. She was a beloved wife, dedicated mother, sister, aunt, Godmother, and friend. The family extends their appreciation of her care to the staff of Laurels of Worthington, where Urania was warmly known as Our Sweet Lady and Echo Hospice.

Viewing will take place on Monday morning, March 18 at the Greek Orthodox Church 11:30 -12:30; funeral service following at 12:30 and officiated by Father James Gardikes. Her internment will be at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Annunciation Greek
