Violet "Vi" Julia Powell, age 88, went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2017. Born March 30, 1928 to the late Julia Kollar, Dover Thomson. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Harry D. Powell who passed away in 2014, brother-in-law, Woody Yerian, sister-in-law and husband, Carlene and Bill McGovern. Violet is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Barb Powell; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Dewey Thacker; grandchildren, Ian and Amanda Powell, Vickie (Mike) York; sister, Betty Yerian; nephews, Ed (Diane) Cooper and Gary (Caroline) McGovern; and a host of friends. Graduate of South High School, Violet met her husband at the Columbus College of Art. She retired from Lazarus after 20 years. Violet was a longtime member of the Christ United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 22, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at WOODYARD EAST CHAPEL, 2300 E. Livingston Ave. Service will be held Monday at 11 AM at the Christ United Methodist Church, 1480 Zettler Rd. Pastor Calvin Alston officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
