Virginia Konstandinidis Slioupkides (Nitsa), 85, passed peacefully from earthly life to eternal life surrounded at home by her loving family on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Virginia was born February 16, 1926 to parents Michael and Angela Konstandinidis in Giannitsa, Greece and moved to America in 1956, traveling on the Orient Express and the Queen Mary. Virginia loved spending time with her family, enjoyed working in her garden, and cherished her Greek culture, heritage and customs. She especially enjoyed summers when she would return with family to her native Greece. Virginia possessed an adventuresome spirit, a keen sense of humor, a special appreciation for all of God's creations in nature, and served as a pillar of spiritual strength for those around her. She is survived by her daughters, Maria Archer and Angie Driscoll; Angie's husband, Tony Williams; grandchildren, Sean Driscoll and Elizabeth Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives in America and Greece. She was preceded in 2002 by her husband of 48 years John Slioupkides. Virginia was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Columbus, Ohio and practiced her faith daily in all aspects of her life. She was a loving homemaker and retired seamstress. Virginia's family and friends will always remember her sweet and gentle spirit and the countless blessings she bestowed upon their lives. The family will receive friends at O.R. WOODYARD FUNERAL HOME, 2990 Bethel Road during calling hours on Friday, October 28 from 3:30-5 and 6:30-8 p.m., with a Trisagion at 7:30 pm. Father Panteleimon Maillis will conduct a memorial service at the Union Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 3349 Olentangy River Road at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 29. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Virginia's memory may provide memorial contributions to a college fund Virginia established for her grandson, Sean Driscoll. Such contributions may be issued to the Sean Driscoll College Education Fund at any Fifth Third Bank branch, or mailed to the fund, c/o Fifth Third Bank, 1669 Fishinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221.
