Wilbur "Dave" Whitley, age 83, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024 at his home in Columbus, OH surrounded by his family. Wilbur was born on August 14, 1941 in Columbus, OH to the late Roy and Mae Whitley. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for over 30 years. He loved gardening, tractors and lawnmowers, hanging out around Columbus, and delivering vegetables. Wilbur is preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, June Whitley; brother, Clayton Whitley; grandsons, Nick Crawford and Joshua Whitley; and great grandson, Shane Crawford. He is survived by his children, Terri Crawford and Gary Whitley; grandchildren, Chaz Whitley, Hunter (Summer) Crawford, Kasey Crawford, Chase Whitley, Tosha Hutter, Samantha Swank, and Gary Kelly; numerous great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; sister, Ann Cregger; sister-in-law, Yvonne Whitley; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation for Wilbur will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 12 p.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at the O.R. WOODYARD CO. South Chapel, 1346 S. High St. in Columbus, OH. Pastor Guiles Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, OH.
