William Benjamin Jackson, Jr., age 84 of Sun City Center FL, affectingly know as Gute, entered the gates of Heaven on July 24, 2025. He was born in Huntington, West Virginia on April 16, 1941, to parents, William Benjamin Jackson, Sr. And Elsie Morton Jackson. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Sandra; son, William Benjamin (Pete) Jackson III (Alicia), of Riverview, Fl.; daughter, Kim Hayes of Huntington, West Virginia; grandchildren, Javon and Jataya Jackson and Jaden Hayes; sister, Victoria (Howard) Meeks of Canal Winchester, Ohio. Many loving nieces and nephews as well as lifelong friends. Special cherished friends, Kathy and Gerald Montgomery, of Sun City Center, Fl and Norman and Erin Ragland and family of Westerville, Ohio. Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Carolyn Brown.

In 1958, after graduating from Douglass High School in Huntington, Gute attended Marshall University and then went on to join the Marine Corps to proudly serve his country. When his military service was completed, he returned to Huntington WV where he began a 43 year career in the steel industry, first working at Steel of WV for 32 years and then, after he and Sandy married in 1994, and moved to Canal Winchester, Ohio, he began working at Amsted Rail from which he retired after 11 years. In 2015, Gute and Sandy moved to Sun City Center, Florida to enjoy the Florida sunshine.

Gute loved his wife, his entire family and life! He has an infectious personality, never saw a stranger and always made friends wherever he went. From early childhood he always had a passion for sports that has carried all the way through his adult years. He always been an enthusiastic fan of the Dallas Cowboys. In high school he played several sports, especially basketball and when he attended Marshall University in Huntington WV, he was on the Thundering Hurd, basket ball team.  He continued his love of sports as an avid golfer and by coaching at the Huntington YMCA, especially coaching (Buddy Basket Ball), A.D. Lewis Boys Club (Pee Wee Football) and Little League Baseball. Throughout his twenty-two years of coaching at the YMCA, he helped to shape the lives and character of many young men.

A celebration of Gute's life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Obetz Methodist Church, 1781 Obetz Ave, Obetz Ohio. Calling hours at the church, one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Arlington Field of Honor, Canal Winchester, Ohio

There will be a fellowship luncheon served at the church following the graveside service for all to attend.
